Fascia signs
A fascia sign is the main sign fixed to the horizontal band above a shop window and door, showing the business name and often the phone number or trade. It can be a flat printed panel, a folded tray, built-up letters or painted lettering, with or without lighting.

When is this the right choice?
Every shop needs a clear fascia, but the type depends on budget and setting. A printed aluminium composite panel suits new businesses and short leases. Built-up letters or a folded tray suit brands wanting more depth, and hand-painted timber suits period frontages. A new fascia is also the simplest way to refresh a tired shop without changing the glass or frame.
What are the options?
How much does a fascia sign cost?
Fascia signs usually cost £395 to £1,695 ex VAT per sign, supplied and fitted. Size, materials, print and your choice of flat panel, tray or built-up letters set the range. Fixing height, removal of an old sign, repairs to the fascia board and artwork preparation can add to it, and lighting is priced separately. You get a written quote once the fascia is measured.
Guide prices exclude VAT. Your written quote is fixed after survey.

How does the job run?
Measure the fascia
We record the width, height and condition of the board, along with any fixings from the old sign.
Approve the artwork
You sign off a proof showing layout, colours and lettering, in proportion to the real fascia.
Make the sign
Panels are printed, laminated and cut, or letters are formed and finished.
Fix to the fascia
The old sign is removed, the surface is repaired where needed, and the new sign is fixed level.
Common questions
Do I need permission for a fascia sign?
Not always. In England, many non-illuminated signs on business premises have deemed consent, within limits on size and height. Listed buildings can need listed building consent, and signs in conservation areas get closer attention. Rules differ in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so tell us where you are.
What size should my fascia sign be?
Size it to the existing fascia, in proportion to the building. A sign that runs beyond the fascia line or covers upper-floor features tends to look wrong and can cause consent problems. In England, deemed consent limits lettering to 0.75 m high on most business signs.
What should go on a fascia sign?
Put your business name first, then a short line on what you sell and perhaps a phone number. Fewer words read better from across the street or a passing car. Choose high contrast between letters and background, and leave space at each end.
Can a new sign go over my old one?
Yes, if the old sign is firmly fixed and the structure is sound. Otherwise it should come off, so that we can inspect the board behind it and make repairs. Overcladding can hide rot or loose fixings, so we check first.
