How much do shopfront repairs cost?
Shopfront repairs are £125 to £995 ex VAT for most single repairs. Repair work starts with a charged diagnostic visit, from £125 ex VAT, and we tell you the cost before we come out. The final price depends on the part, the access and whether the fault needs adjusting or replacing.

How does the diagnostic visit work?
Repairs work differently from new shopfronts, so there is no free survey. On a charged visit a technician opens up the door, tests the shutter or checks the glass, finds the cause and prices the repair before going further. Some parts may be fitted on that visit, and others have to be ordered in.
Break-ins and smashed glass are handled differently. Ring the 24/7 emergency line, explain what has happened, and we'll tell you the arrival time when you call. Planned repairs can be booked around your trading hours, including out-of-hours visits, so say what suits you when you arrange the diagnostic visit.
What do common door and shutter repairs cost?
These guide figures cover typical faults on standard equipment. Older or imported gear can cost more, especially if parts are hard to find. If a repair gets close to the price of a replacement, we will say so and give you both figures, so you can choose which way to go. A worn part replaced early usually costs less than the damage it causes when it fails.
- Door repairs: £125 to £595 ex VAT per door
- Locks: £125 to £345 ex VAT per lock
- Door closers: £145 to £345 ex VAT per closer
- Floor springs: £295 to £695 ex VAT per floor spring
- Automatic doors: £165 to £895 ex VAT for most repairs
- Roller shutters: £125 to £695 ex VAT for most repairs
What does broken or misted glass cost?
Replacing a broken pane is £195 to £895 ex VAT per pane, and replacing a misted sealed unit is £165 to £695 ex VAT per sealed unit. Size, thickness and glass type set the price, and oversized panes may need lifting equipment. If the glass is smashed and the shop is exposed, boarding comes first, at £195 to £495 ex VAT per opening.
What do frame, sign and stall riser repairs cost?
Frame and finish repairs are easy to put off, yet water getting past a failed seal or a rotten cill does more damage with time. Recoating a tired but sound frame often costs less than replacing it, and a repaired stall riser does a lot for the look of a front.
- Aluminium frames: £195 to £995 ex VAT for most repairs
- Stall risers: £295 to £1,295 ex VAT per frontage
- Signs: £125 to £695 ex VAT for most repairs
- Powder coating and respraying: £395 to £1,695 ex VAT per frontage
Will insurance cover the repair?
It may do, if your policy covers glass, impact or malicious damage. Check the excess first, because a small repair can fall below it. Your insurer may want a written quote and photographs before agreeing permanent work, though making the premises safe normally comes first. Our insurance claims guide covers the steps.
